What is Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that involves inserting very thin needles into specific points on the body. It stimulates nerves, releases hormones and helps balance the body. Acupuncture is used for a wide variety of conditions and symptoms, and can be very effective for common concerns like headaches, pain, GI issues, etc...

Does my practitioner only do Acupuncture?

Emily is trained in Traditional Chinese Medicine, which acupuncture falls under. If deemed appropiate, she may use other modalities like Tui Na (a form of chinese body work), Gua Sha, Cupping, etc... All will be explained thoroughly before any treatment is provided.

Is Acupuncture safe?

Acupuncture is generally considered a safe treatment when performed by a trained, accredited practitioner. In many countries, licensed acupuncturists undergo extensive education and training to ensure they understand both the theory and practical skills required for the procedure. This training typically includes knowledge of anatomy, needle techniques, and hygiene practices, all of which are essential for minimizing risks and ensuring a safe experience.
In summary, acupuncture is a safe and effective therapy when performed by a qualified, accredited practitioner. While side effects are generally mild and uncommon, it's important to be aware of them and discuss any concerns with your acupuncturist before starting treatment. If you choose an experienced practitioner, you can feel confident that you're receiving a treatment designed to promote your health and well-being.
